This tour departs from the floating jetty behind Scandic Ishavshotel in central Tromsø, operated by Arctic Cruise in Norway and available year-round. The highlight is your skipper: a genuine fisherman born and raised in a coastal village in northern Norway, who learned fishing from his father as a young child. For him, fishing is a true way of life, not a tourist performance.
Onboard, you will practice traditional fishing, learn proper fish handling, and see how to fillet and prepare fresh fish. Along the way, listen to captivating tales of historic fishing communities and modern Arctic life. Weather permitting, enjoy a warm meal made directly from the day's catch out at sea, and if the catch is plentiful, you may be able to take some home. After the tour, you will receive photos and digital artwork created from your trip.
This is an easy-level, small-group trip with safety gear and warm thermal suits provided if needed, though you should dress appropriately for the day's weather.
