This course is designed for those who have never tried cross-country skiing before. Operated by Tromsø Outdoor, taking a short drive from downtown Tromsø to prepared ski trails on Tromsøya island among birch and spruce forests. Available from November to April.
Start practicing on flat terrain where your coordinator teaches you how to put on skis, balance, and glide forward. Once you gain confidence, continue with basic techniques and try small slopes. Groups of 2-8 people ensure attentive care from the coordinator. Mid-course, enjoy a break with hot drinks and lefse, a traditional Norwegian flatbread. After the course, you can rent skis to practice further on your own.
Wear warm clothing with windproof and waterproof outer layers. From mid-February onwards, the sun gets stronger, so bring sunglasses and sunscreen. Departures are available in both morning and afternoon, while April departures run in the afternoon from Prostneset port. Please check departure times and meeting points on your booking confirmation.
