This full-day trip by Arctic Glow takes you out of Tromsø and north through the coastal landscapes of Kvaløya and Ringvassøya, then onto a ferry from Hansnes to Vannøya island. During the crossing you can enjoy fjords, mountains and islands. A local coordinator who grew up on the island tells you about a way of life tied to the sea, fishing and the Arctic weather.
On the island you stop at a traditional fishing village and several quiet stretches of coastline. If the weather allows, you take an easy hike to a viewpoint overlooking the Barents Sea, then gather for a warm meal, cake, coffee and tea on a white sandy beach. Depending on the season and a little luck, you may see sea eagles, seabirds or reindeer. A photographer takes pictures along the way and sends them to you digitally.
It suits those who want to see authentic rural northern Norway, couples and photography lovers. The minimum age is 10, the difficulty level is moderate, and at least 6 participants are required.
