In summer (June to September), Tromsø has bike paths linking the whole city. A local coordinator from Tromsø Outdoor leads you on easy-to-ride electric bikes, off the usual tourist routes to the locals' favorite corners, telling you about the culture and nature of life in the Arctic.
Stops include the old seal-hunting vessel MS Polstjerna (viewed from outside), Telegrafbukta beach, a summer favorite among locals, the Folkeparken open-air museum, Prestvannet lake, a bird-watching spot, the city's most scenic ski jump, and the Arctic-Alpine Botanical Garden. It suits couples, friends and families with teenagers.
Participants must be at least 12 years old, at least 155 cm tall, and able to ride a bicycle. Even in summer the weather can be cool, so bring a windproof and waterproof jacket, sunglasses, sunscreen and a water bottle. Departures are at 10:00 and 14:30.
