This express Northern Lights tour by Wandering Owl is ideal for travelers who need to wake up early the next morning. Available from September to April, it departs at 20:00 from outside Scandic Ishavshotel, lasts around 4 hours, and returns to central Tromsø by midnight. Group sizes are 4-15 people.
The coordinator team monitors weather forecasts combined with local knowledge to choose safe spots with the best aurora chances within approximately a 1-hour drive from the city center. Once at the location, enjoy warm drinks and biscuits while waiting. The coordinator takes photos, which are available for purchase a few days after the trip.
Ponchos are provided, but please dress warmly and bring a warm hat, hiking boots, gloves, warm socks, and a scarf. Children aged 4 and above can join. Because the route stays close to the city, cloudy nights will not involve driving as far as full-night tours. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon dependent on the weather, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Our team can check availability and book for you.
