This morning tour by OK Tromsø is a great first day in Tromsø. The coordinator walks you past the city's key sights and hidden corners while telling the story of polar bears, from the era when they were hunted almost to extinction, to the tale of a hunter who once brought back bear cubs, sparking rumors of bears walking through town, and up to today, when polar bears have become a symbol of climate change.

At Polaria you will see the interactive exhibition The Changing Arctic, a panoramic film about Arctic animals, and bearded seals, the main food of polar bears. It is the only place on mainland Europe where you can see this seal up close. Admission to the Polar Museum is also included, and you can come back and re-enter on the same day. Along the way you walk along the harbor and see brightly colored wooden houses in the old quarter.

The walking distance is about 2.3 km, plus another 0.7 km if you walk back to the starting point. The tour ends at Polaria. It is not suitable for those with limited mobility, and children must be aged 10 and over. In winter, ice grips and reflective bands are available to borrow. You also get tips for exploring the city from the coordinator.
