This trip starts at the Tromsø Outdoor office in the centre of Tromsø, then continues by car with views of fjords and mountains to the start of the trail. The coordinator hands out snowshoes and poles, then leads you into the snowy terrain. Along the way you can take photos and hear about Arctic nature and life in northern Norway.
The difficulty is moderate to fairly challenging, as you may need to climb up to about 400 metres on snow. It suits people who enjoy hiking and are reasonably fit, aged 12 and over, in a small group of up to 8 people. If you would like an easier walk, we recommend choosing a different trip. The route and difficulty may be adjusted depending on snow and weather conditions.
You need warm, sturdy hiking boots; if you don't have any, they can be rented. Bring a windproof and waterproof outer layer, extra drinking water and snacks, and from mid-February onward, bring sunglasses and sunscreen because the light reflecting off the snow is strong.
