This tour by Arctic Aurora Tours departs from Kirkegata 2 in central Tromsø at 18:00 (6:00 PM) for groups of up to 16 guests. A local Sámi or Norwegian coordinator checks the weather, clouds, and aurora forecasts to choose the route, which may pass through fjords, valleys, and mountains, or cross into Finland if clearer skies are found there.

The operator has several private viewing locations that are used when conditions permit, away from larger tour crowds. Some locations feature campfires and toilet facilities. While waiting, the coordinator shares stories of Sámi culture, Arctic life, and coastal communities in Northern Norway. Hot drinks, snacks, and a warm meal are provided. The coordinator takes photos and assists with camera settings if you bring your own equipment.

Thermal suits are provided, but please wear thermal base layers, a warm hat, mittens, thick socks, and winter boots. If you would like photography guidance, please bring your own camera. After the tour, guests are dropped off at their hotels in Tromsø. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon dependent on the weather, so sightings cannot be guaranteed; if not seen, you receive a discount to rebook another night. Our team can check availability and book for you.
