This Northern Lights chase by Polar Adventures departs from Fr. Nansens plass in central Tromsø by minibus in groups of 3-17 people. Our coordinator, who has chased the aurora for many seasons, chooses each night's route based on local weather and cloud cover, taking you away from city lights into the Arctic countryside surrounded by mountains, fjords, and valleys.
During the night, thermal suits are available to borrow, along with hot chocolate, tea, and snacks including marshmallows. If weather and conditions permit, a campfire will be lit to sit around. The coordinator takes photos throughout the trip, including 2 landscape photos in the package, with extra photos available for purchase. Photos are uploaded online by 18:00 the following day. Drop-off after the trip is available at Tromsdalen, Reinen, Tromsø island, and Kvaløysletta. If you stay elsewhere, the coordinator can help call a taxi.
This trip does not include a main meal, so please eat before departure, and eating or drinking on the minibus is not allowed. Dress warmly in waterproof shoes, wool socks, gloves, and a warm hat. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon dependent on the weather, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. The campfire also depends on conditions that night.
