This June to November tour by Tromsø Villmarkssenter departs in front of the Radisson Blu Hotel in Tromsø at 9:30 AM. A 25-35 minute drive brings you to the center to meet dog handlers and Alaskan husky puppies growing up to become the next generation of sled dogs.
Spend about 2 hours taking the puppies out to explore nature, play, and get used to their environment. Handlers share how Alaskan huskies are raised and prepared for sled dog life. Afterwards, visit the dog yard and enjoy lunch in a gamme, a traditional turf hut. The meal is bacalao, a Norwegian fish dish with Portuguese roots (vegetarian option available on request), followed by coffee or tea and chocolate cake.
There is no age limit, but children must be accompanied by an adult. If traveling with small children, you must bring your own car seat or arrange your own transportation. Rain gear and rubber boots are provided, but please dress for the weather and arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes early, as the bus will not wait. Our team can check availability and book for you.
