A vehicle takes you from Tromsø to a reindeer camp in the midst of Arctic nature. The highlight is walking among a herd of about 300 reindeer and feeding them by hand. If you'd like to try being a reindeer herder, you can practice throwing a lasso.
Then you'll warm up in a lavvu, the traditional Sami tent, and enjoy bidos, a Sami-style reindeer stew, with hot drinks and cookies. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available; please let us know about any food allergies when you book. Meanwhile, your host will share the history and way of life of reindeer herding and sing joik, the traditional folk songs of the Sami people.
The activity is easy and has no age limit, suitable for families with young children and for older travelers. Wear at least two warm layers, a hat, gloves and insulated boots. Sessions are available at 10:00 and 13:00, and our team can help you choose the one that fits your travel plan.
