If you're short on time but want to see reindeer and get to know the Sami people, this tour takes only about 3.5 hours. A vehicle leaves from central Tromsø and follows a scenic route to a camp in Breivikeidet, a valley surrounded by mountains, forest and fjords.
When you arrive at the camp, your Sami host welcomes you in a lavvu tent and talks about reindeer herding, traditional dress, beliefs, Arctic survival and family life. Then you'll step into the pen to meet a herd of about 100 reindeer waiting for their breakfast, which you can feed by hand or from a bucket. Our Coordinator stays with you throughout and can answer your questions.
The difficulty level is easy, suitable for families and first-time travelers, with no age limit. However, the ground at the camp is uneven, so please let us know in advance if anyone has difficulty walking. Dress warmly and bring your camera. The tour requires a minimum of 10 travelers. If the minimum isn't reached, you'll be offered a refund, an upgrade to the full tour, or a change of date.
