This morning trip, available exclusively in October, is operated by Tromsø Lapland. Departing from central Tromsø, the drive takes about 50 minutes to a valley reindeer camp surrounded by mountains. With a herd of over 120 reindeer at the camp, you can hand-feed them, observe them up close, and take photos in a peaceful setting.
After spending time with the reindeer, gather inside a lavvu, a traditional Sámi tent. A Sámi coordinator will share stories about Sámi culture, traditions, and reindeer herding for about 30 minutes, followed by a Q&A session. Lunch features bidos, a traditional reindeer stew with potatoes and carrots served with bread, biscuits, and hot drinks. A vegan and gluten-free option is also available.
This tour is very easy, with no reindeer sledding included. Please dress warmly and bring a camera. The ground at the camp is uneven, so wheelchair users or guests with reduced mobility should inform us in advance so our team can check with the operator.
