The camp is about 50 minutes from Tromsø, in a valley surrounded by mountains. When you arrive, your Sami coordinator takes you on a reindeer sled ride of about 20 minutes through the winter landscape. On clear nights you may see a sky full of stars, and perhaps the northern lights along the way.
After the sled ride, you'll step into the pen to feed the reindeer, followed by a dinner of bidos, reindeer stew served with bread. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. Then everyone gathers in the lavvu to hear your Sami coordinator talk about traditions and life with reindeer for about 30 minutes, and you're welcome to ask as many questions as you like. Warm suits, boot covers, hats and gloves are provided.
The northern lights cannot be guaranteed, and the sled ride depends on snow conditions. If the ride isn't possible, you'll receive a partial refund and the rest of the tour will go ahead. The weight limit for sled riders is 120 kg. The ground at the camp is uneven, so wheelchair users should ask us before booking. Our team will help check these details when you book.
