This full-day trip by Green Gold of Norway departs from the Prostneset bus terminal in Tromsø at 5:20 AM, driving to Skjervøy, about 4 hours away. From late autumn to early in the year, orcas and humpback whales come to feed in these waters.
Upon arrival, you will put on a warm flotation suit, boots, and gloves before boarding a high-speed RIB boat (up to 12 people per boat) with an English-speaking captain and coordinator to search for whales in the open sea. After the boat session, sandwiches, coffee, and tea are served before taking the scenic drive back, arriving in Tromsø around 17:30.
This trip is challenging due to the rocky RIB boat and strong winds, so it is open only to participants aged 14 and older. Please dress warmly in full winter layers under the flotation suit, and board the large red Tromsø Safari bus on the ground floor behind Magic Ice, confirming with the driver before departure. Whales are wild animals and a natural phenomenon dependent on weather conditions, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Our team can check availability and book for you.
