For anyone who wants to try being a musher, this trip at Tromsø Villmarkssenter near Tromsø begins with meeting the huskies and learning how to control the sled from a coordinator. Each sled has 2 people, one driving and one riding, who swap about halfway. The drive takes about 45 minutes, with the coordinator driving a sled at the front.
The route passes through snowy fields along the coast. On clear days, you will see mountains, fjords and the city of Tromsø. Afterwards, you can visit the kennel and the husky puppies, then warm up by the fire with bidos, a traditional reindeer stew (a vegetarian option is available if you let us know), along with chocolate cake, coffee and tea.
This trip takes a fair amount of physical effort. You may need to run behind the sled uphill, keep your balance and hold on tightly, so it suits teenagers aged 16 and over and fit adults. The recommended maximum age is 70. It is not suitable for pregnant women. The total weight per sled should not exceed 170 kg. If you are traveling with older travelers or children, we recommend the musher-driven option instead.
