If you'd love to try a reindeer sled ride but don't want to spend the whole day, this trip is just right. A vehicle takes you from Tromsø to a reindeer camp, where you ride a sled for about 10-15 minutes through the valley and along the coast, then meet and feed the herd and try throwing a lasso like a herder.
Afterwards, you'll warm up by the fire in a traditional turf hut (gamme) and enjoy bidos, a Sami-style reindeer stew, with hot drinks and cookies. A vegetarian or vegan vegetable stew is available, as well as gluten-free and lactose-free options. Your Sami host will share the history and way of life of reindeer herding and sing joik for you.
The activity is easy with no age limit, suitable for families and older travelers. Wear at least two warm layers, a hat, gloves and insulated boots. You can choose the 10:00 or 13:00 session. Our team will book it for you and let the camp know about any special dietary needs.
