This tour takes you snowshoeing at the northernmost tip of the Lyngen Alps, right where the mountains meet the sea. Operated by XLyngen, the route depends on the day's conditions—either along the fjord toward Lyngstuva or into the valleys. Available from December to March for groups of 2-8 people, moderate difficulty.
The hike takes about 2.5 hours, during which the coordinator shares local history, coastal living, and stories of nearby villages. Halfway through, pause for an outdoor packed lunch with warm drinks. If you're lucky, you might spot sea eagles, foxes, hares, otters, ptarmigans, or moose—or at least discover their tracks in the snow.
Dress warmly; wool thermal underwear is highly recommended. Thermal winter suits and boots are provided upon request. Wildlife sightings are natural and cannot be guaranteed. A seaside floating sauna and a later return to Tromsø can be added upon request for an extra charge. Our team is happy to check availability and book for you.
