Songkran Join Tour Slovenia, Bosnia and Serbia 8 Days 7 Nights

  • 8 days 7 nights
  • Small group + van

The Republic of Slovenia may not be a familiar name to many Thai travelers. It is not Slovakia, even though the names are similar. Slovenia was officially founded as a country in 2534 (1991) and opened up more widely when it joined the European Union on 1 May 2547 (2004). Slovenia is another European country with an interesting history and natural attractions as beautiful as any other.

Day by day

Day 1 Ljubljana - Bled
Ljubljana

We will be waiting to welcome you at Ljubljana Airport.

Ljubljana is the compact capital of Slovenia, offering a bit of everything: mountains, rivers, streams, caves, bridges, forests, castles, and much more.

See the Dragon Bridge (Zmajski Most), guarded by large dragon statues at each end, spanning the Ljubljanica River. Stroll through Prešeren Square and visit Ljubljana Castle, perched atop a 376-meter hill. Originally a medieval fortress that has weathered centuries of history, it now welcomes over 1 million visitors each year. The view from the top is captivating, offering a panoramic look across the entire city. You can reach the summit by taking the funicular railway.

Then, walk through Town Square, home to St. Nicholas's Cathedral, distinguished by its green dome and twin towers rising above the roofline.

Next, travel to Bled, covering a distance of 55 kilometers. Visit Lake Bled, home to a romantic island church set in the middle of the lake. It is Slovenia's most celebrated and picturesque warm-water lake. Legend has it that in the 19th century, a sick man sought healing from the waters of Lake Bled and fully recovered, cementing the lake's worldwide fame.

Visit Bled Castle, the oldest castle in Slovenia.

Visit Bled Island in the middle of the lake, home to the Gothic-style Church of the Mother of God on the Lake. According to local wedding tradition, the groom must carry his bride up the 99 stone steps to the church and ring "The Wishing Bell" inside to make a wish.

Marvel at the spectacular stalactites and stalagmites inside the cave. A short distance away,

visit Predjama Castle, located 10 kilometers from the cave. Over 800 years old, it is Europe's only surviving cave castle, built dramatically into the mouth of a cliffside cave.

Afterward, travel to Bihać, covering a distance of 257 kilometers, for an overnight stay.

Bihać is a city in the Una-Sana Canton of Bosnia and Herzegovina, located in the northwestern part of the country on the banks of the Una River, near the Croatian border. It was under Turkish rule until 1878. Enjoy the scenic views of the Una River with Una National Park as its backdrop.

Then, head to Travnik (217 km), the former Ottoman capital of Bosnia for 150 years from 1697 to 1850.

Visit the fortress and the picturesque bridge over the Lašva River. In the past, this town was known as the Istanbul of Europe and the castle town of Travnik. Today, it is well known for its sheep cheese and is the birthplace of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić, author of classic Bosnian literature.

Day 4 Sarajevo - Mostar
Sarajevo
Photo: Goran Andjelkovic · Google Maps

We'll take you to explore Sarajevo (95 km), the capital and largest city of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and another major city in the Balkans with a long history dating back to the Ottoman Empire in 1461. A momentous historical event took place right here: this is where Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated on June 28, 1914, triggering World War I. In addition, during the period when Bosnia and Herzegovina sought independence from Yugoslavia, Sarajevo was besieged by the Yugoslav military for over 1,425 days (about 3 years and 11 months)—recorded as the longest siege of a city in modern world history. Today, however, the city is recognized as one of the safest in Europe. While people often associate it with images of past wars, the reality is completely the opposite. In 2011–2012, Sarajevo was selected by Lonely Planet as one of the top ten cities to visit, and in 2014, it was the only non-EU city nominated to be the European Capital of Culture in 2014.

Then travel to Mostar (129 km) to visit the massive bunker built into the mountain in Konjic—once Yugoslavia's best-kept secret, where leaders of the Yugoslav Republic planned for atomic warfare. This is one of the most expensive structures built in the former Yugoslavia, taking 26 years to construct (from 1953 to 1979).

Overnight Mostar

Day 5 Zlatibor - Mokra Gora
Mokra Gora

Today, we'll take you to Mount Zlatibor (285 km), located in western Serbia and popular among visitors for skiing.

There, you'll visit the charming village of Mokra Gora, which became popular after the construction of the Šargan Eight narrow-gauge railway—unique in the world. The railway passes through 22 tunnels and 5 bridges, overcoming an elevation gain of 300 meters over a total distance of 15 km. The train runs from Mokra Gora village to Šargan Vitasi station.

Afterward, we drive to the hotel.

Day 6 Topola, Oplenac - Belgrade
Oplenac
Belgrade

After breakfast, travel 150 km north to Topola and Oplenac, small towns in central Serbia steeped in history, famous for winemaking, and tied to the story of the Karađorđević dynasty.

Visit St. George's Church, the Karađorđević family mausoleum, featuring a crypt containing the relics of members of the Karađorđević dynasty.

Next, visit the summer residence of King Peter Karađorđević located opposite the church, built in 1912, and enjoy lunch in town.

Then drive 70 km to Mount Avala to take in the beautiful views of Belgrade from the mountain located in the southeastern corner of the city. We'll take you up the tower to enjoy panoramic views overlooking Belgrade.

Afterward, drive 20 km to Belgrade, enjoy dinner, and check in to your hotel.

Overnight Belgrade

Day 7 Belgrade
Belgrade Fortress

Today, we'll take you on a tour of Belgrade, the capital and largest city of Serbia, first settled in prehistoric times. Two major rivers flow through the city: the Sava River, flowing from the southwest, meets the Danube River here. The confluence of these two rivers was considered an advantageous strategic stronghold since ancient times and is the site of the ancient Belgrade Fortress. We will explore Belgrade Fortress and stroll along Knez Mihailova Street, a popular shopping street located nearby.

Next, we visit the Temple of Saint Sava (St. Sava Temple), one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. It is believed to be the site where the remains of Saint Sava, a saint revered by Serbians, were burned. Construction began in 1935 but was halted, resuming again in 1985. The interior is still undergoing completion, with the cathedral expected to be completed in 2020, featuring a large elevator for visitors to enjoy high-angle panoramic views from the base of the dome.

Before wrapping up today's tour, we'll take you to Zemun, a small town that has been part of Belgrade since 1934, located about 13 km away. This town once served as a border town between the Ottoman and Austrian empires. You'll stroll through this town filled with old Central European charm, visit the central market, and walk along the Danube riverbank—a favorite local relaxation spot surrounded by historic Central European-style houses. Next, walk to The Millennium Tower to ascend and admire breathtaking views of Zemun, then visit St. Nicholas Church, the town's oldest Orthodox church.

House of Flowers

We take you to visit the House of Flowers at the Museum of Yugoslav History, the most visited museum in Serbia and an important symbol of the era and ideology that governed this region for nearly 50 years. In the past, it served as the resting place and residence of former Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito.

Afterward, travel about 50 km outside Belgrade for brand-name shopping at Fashion Park Outlet Center Indija (if time permits).

We conclude the trip with a 40 km journey straight to Nikola Tesla Airport to safely see you off at Belgrade Airport.
