How to Apply for a Greece Visa

Applying for a Greece tourist visa

Greece is part of the European Union (a member since 1981), so you can apply for a Schengen visa for it. You apply at the embassy of the country where you will stay the longest. If Greece is your only destination, you must apply at the Embassy of Greece in Thailand.

Documents required for a Greece visa

1. A completed visa application form

2. A passport valid for at least 3 months after your return date, with 2 blank facing pages, plus 1 photocopy, and your old passport if you have one

3. 1 color photo, front-facing against a white background, 3.5 cm wide and 4.5 cm high

4. Additional supporting documents for the application

• For children, submit a birth certificate (in English)

• For those traveling with a spouse, submit a marriage certificate (in English)

• For applicants who do not hold a Thai passport, submit (a) a work permit for Thailand valid for at least 2 years, (b) a residence permit for Thailand, and (c) a re-entry visa for Thailand, plus 1 photocopy

5. Original proof of employment

• Company employees: an employment certificate letter (in English) and proof of income tax payment

• Business owners: a business registration certificate or commercial registration certificate, together with proof of tax payment (certified copy)

• Students: a letter of certification from the educational institution (in English)

(Note: if proof of employment is a Thai-language document, it must be translated into English and stamped for certification by the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs)

6. Financial statements for the past 6 months, such as a savings account passbook or bank statement. For business trips, you must show financial records for both yourself and the company

7. Travel health and accident insurance with coverage of 30,000 euros or 1,500,000 THB

8. A flight reservation showing the outbound and return dates

9. Proof of hotel booking. If you will stay with a Greek host, submit the original invitation letter certified by the local police station, together with a copy of the host's passport or ID card and documents showing the host's income tax, and send them by fax or e-mail to the Visa Section in Bangkok before coming to submit your visa application

10. For conferences or business trips, you must have an invitation letter stating your name and travel dates correctly, from a company or organization in Greece, and send it by fax or e-mail to the Visa Section in Bangkok before coming to submit your visa application

11. Visa applicants under 20 years of age who are not traveling with their father and mother must have a letter of consent for travel from both parents, in English, stamped for certification by the Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Holders of Thai official or diplomatic passports must also apply for a visa and must submit a cover letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

• Together with documents 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8 and 9, but no visa fee is required

• Travelers must submit the visa application in person. Visa processing takes approximately 7-14 working days

• The Greece visa fee is approximately 2,160 THB (60 Euro), depending on the embassy
