Wine Tasting Tour Destinations in Greece

When you visit Greece, one more thing for wine lovers is to tour the wineries and taste fine wines. Where can you go?

Santorini

Santorini is another interesting destination. Besides sightseeing around Greece, wine lovers should not miss this trip to visit the wineries in Santorini

Santorini is a volcanic island and a major tourist destination. People often travel across the islands to enjoy the beautiful views of the world-famous Caldera, and the native grapes are the true heart of this destination.

Santorini has some of the oldest vineyards in the world, under continuous cultivation and using traditional winemaking methods. Some grape varieties produce many kinds of wine, such as Assyrtiko, which makes up 80% of the wine, Athiri and Aidani, which produce white wines, and Mantilaria, Mavrotragano and Voudomato, which produce red wines.

The highlight of this trip is the Aegean grape varieties: taste 15 different types and styles of wine, visit 3 traditional wineries and meet the winemakers. If you visit the island of Mykonos, taste the most exciting wines of Mykonos, which come from the Aytgeko, Athiri, Monemvasia, Malagouzia, Agiannitis and Mandilaria varieties.

Mykonos

The island of Mykonos has a regional microclimate (strong, dry north winds), and thanks to its rich soil mixture and intensive cultivation with few pesticides, the healthy grapes gain superior flavor and quality. The original Aegean grape varieties are perfectly suited to the existing climate.

Athens

The local grape "Agiorgitiko" is well known for its special flavor and aroma, and dates back to 4.500 BC. "The climate of Nemea is semi-arid to semi-humid, with average rainfall of 700-800 mm per year and an average temperature between 16 and 18 degrees Celsius. The area is a valley surrounded by mountains, and the weather ranges from cold winters to warm and fairly dry summers, with many variations even over short distances within the PDO Nemea zone. The soil is clay, suited to retaining water and with good fertility, containing organic and inorganic matter such as calcium carbonate, which gives the wines of each vineyard a different deliciousness. The Asopus, a legendary river, creates a unique microclimate and reveals the unique terroir of Nemea." Let's go and taste the wine!
