Seceda, Dolomites: A Self-Guided Travel Review

The Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, made up of nearly 20 magnificent peaks rising to 3,000 meters in the Alps, straddling the Italy-Austria border. The scenery is breathtaking in both summer and winter, with spectacular rocky summits, the emerald-green Lake Misurina and Lake Santa Caterina, the beautiful ski resorts around Cortina d'Ampezzo, and charming mountain villages such as Pieve di Cadore, all waiting for you to visit.

But if you want to visit Seceda, a pointed peak of more than 3,000 meters in the Val Gardena valley and another famous symbol of the western Dolomites, you need to take two cable cars to enjoy the view from the top. You can buy a three-day Val Gardena Card for 85 euros, then ride the cable car from Ortisei station to Furnes station, where you change cable cars to reach the final stop at Seceda station.

If you stay in Ortisei, Santa Cristina or Selva Val Gardena, you should buy the three-day Val Gardena Card at 85 euros (115 euros for 6 days). It includes free sightseeing bus rides, as well as cabin lifts and chairlifts, on a total of 17 routes with unlimited rides, covering the whole Val Gardena valley.

With the Val Gardena Card, you can take cable cars and chairlifts up the mountains an unlimited number of times, for example:

(1) Seceda Cableways : 37 Euro (Summer / Round trip)
(2) Funicular Rasciesa : 25 Euro (Summer / Round trip)
(3) Ortisei Alpe di Siusi Ropeway : 23.90 Euro (Summer / Round trip)
(4) Al sole Chairlift 10.90 Euro (Summer / Round trip)
(5) Santa Cristina - Monte Pana 17 Euro (Summer / Round trip)
(6) Monte Pana - Mont Seura 21 Euro (Summer / Round trip)
(7) Santa Cristina-Col Raiser 25 Euro (Summer / Round trip)
If you visit Seceda in the Dolomites in April, not all cable cars are open yet. If you plan to drive through the Dolomites or explore them on your own, don't miss the beautiful Seceda cable car.
