Dolomites Review: The Adolf Munkel Trail

Guest writers

Seeing the grandeur of the Odle/Geisler Group, with its shark-tooth peaks, is a highlight not to be missed when visiting the Dolomites. The Adolf Munkel Trail is a hiking route that takes you up close to these jagged peaks.

We recommend driving to Parkplatz Zanser Alm (parking fee 8 euros) before hiking the Adolf Munkel Trail.

From the car park, start walking counterclockwise (trail #36). The path climbs a pine-forested slope past the Dusler Alm hut and ends at the Geisler Alm hut (have lunch and enjoy the view here), the highlight of the hike, where you can see the full grandeur of the Odle/Geisler Group clearly.

On the way back, walk past the Gschnagenhardt Alm hut along the path that winds through the stone pine forest (trail #35), then turn left on the way past the Glatsch Alm hut and return to the car park. The whole hike takes about 6 hours, including time for photos.
