When is the best time to visit Santorini?
When it comes to Santorini's weather, many people think of a sticky sea breeze, but the island's climate is actually not much different from ours at home. It is neither too cold nor too hot, with a cool breeze blowing throughout the day. In summer you get a warm, tropical atmosphere with sunshine that is not too strong, just like in the movie Mamma Mia! High season runs from about July to September. Tourists are plentiful then, the islands are full of people and lively, and accommodation rates are at their highest... Choose whichever vibe you like.
Alright, let's start the trip!
Day 1 Fira - Oia - Santorini
Today we explore the town of Fira (Thera). Ride a donkey down to the Old Port to enjoy the scenery below at the harbor, where boats leave for the volcanic island and for Oia. Then take the Santorini cable car back up to explore charming Fira, visit the town church and enjoy the views along the cliff edge, where you will see white houses scattered across the island.
In the afternoon, visit Oia and enjoy the beauty of its white houses set against the blue, the symbol of a visit to Santorini. Stroll through the small lanes of Oia, take photos with the windmills and houses, buy souvenirs and see Oia Castle. In the evening, wait for the sunset at the island's most important viewpoint, which everyone must visit.

Day 2 Pyrgos
Today we explore the town of Pyrgos and the rest of Santorini. Start at the island's southernmost tip and take photos with the Faros lighthouse. See White Beach and Red Beach, with its red cliffs and red rocks by the sea, and visit the ancient ruins at the Akrotiri Archaeological Site. Then see Black Beach on the island's southeast side, and go up to the island's highest viewpoint, Moni Profiti Ilia, where you can see the sea on both sides of the island and the whole town of Fira.
In the afternoon, head to Ancient Thira and stop by the town of Pyrgos.
If you have time left, you can also book a catamaran cruise on the Aegean Sea to the volcanic island, with a dip in the hot springs.

Day 3 Imerovigli Village - Skaros - Mykonos or Athens
Start the day at Imerovigli, another very charming village on Santorini. It is quiet and uncrowded, and mostly filled with hotels and resorts. The overall view is similar to Oia, but the sea view here is even more beautiful, and the area is perfect for relaxing. Once you have had your fill of romantic strolling, don't forget to go up to the famous Skaros Rock viewpoint, where you will find views beyond words.
In the afternoon, head to the port to return to Athens, or continue exploring the nearby island of Mykonos, whichever suits you best.
